Over 90% of Madagascar’s forests have been destroyed. This loss of native habitat has impacted entire species and removed the ability of the local population to farm and live off the land.
The Mangroves we help plant restore habitat and provide protection against erosion caused by floods and storms and provide important breeding and feeding grounds for fish and birds.
In addition to the benefit to the local environment Mangroves are great at providing natural water filtration and even better at storing carbon. With over 5 times more carbon storing capability than Rain Forests Mangroves are a fantastic way removing carbon from the atmosphere.
